ControlLogix & RSLogix 5000 Advanced

Designed exclusively for sawmills, paper mill winders/wrap lines, or plywood/OSB flying saws and production plants with fine servo-motion hydraulic systems, participants will build up complete closed loop motion control systems and test them in action on live hydraulic cylinders.

Participants will start at the sensor (MDT; Temposonic, Balluff, etc.) and view feedback signals on a scopemeter, and work with PWM, start-stop, current and voltage values (SSI also available).

Working backwards to the axis controller, students will use Delta RMC Tools software to configure parameters, conduct wizard guided PID tuning, and build local and remotely triggered, axis motion tasks. Alternately the course can be taught with 1756-HYD02 hydraulic module and/or with 1756-M02AS (SSI sensors) module.

Then moving on to the ControlLogix PLC, participants will configure a monitor and control program acting as the HMI, to complete an entire production cycle system.

This course is taught with live equipment including a hydraulic system with three servo cylinders c/w Temposonics MDTs, a networked Delta RMC 75E and a 150E controller and five, networked ControlLogix PLC stations.

MAGNETOSTRICTIVE DISPLACEMENT TRANSDUCERS

Objective: Explain the operating principles of an MDT and perform basic tests

Activity: Check cabling and test for normal functioning

DEDICATED MOTION CONTROLLER

Objective: Setup and configure a Delta RMC or 1756-HYD02 motion controller

Activity: Setup travel range and use the PID wizard for tuning

CONTROLLOGIX HARDWARE SETUP

Objective: Configure ControlLogix hardware for use in motion control projects

Activity: Configure processor, Ethernet module & field wiring

SETUP CONTROLLOGIX PLC TO CONTROL DELTA MOTION CONTROLLER

Objective: Implement control of a Delta RMC sequence using instructions from the PLC

Activity: Establish and test data sharing communications between PLC and Delta

ANALYZE TYPICAL MOTION CONTROL PROBLEMS

Objective: Follow a logical method for motion control, problem solving

Activity: Solving for issues related to vibration and shock
